Penguin Parade Visitors Centre

Location: Phillip Island, Melbourne, VIC

In April 2016, the Hon. Daniel Andrews MP, Premier of Victoria announced that the Andrews Labour Government will provide $48.2 million for this major redevelopment, with the Nature Parks contributing a further $10 million, for a total project cost of $58.2 million. the new Visitor Centre due to open in late 2019.

In addition to an enhanced visitor experience, this redevelopment will allow 6.7 hectares of habitat to be restored back to the island’s penguin colonies, with the Nature Parks better placed to achieve environmental outcomes by reducing impacts on penguins and increasing penguin habitat.

ACE’s scope of works includes:

  • temporary and permanent stormwater drainage
  • construction of new carparks
  • concrete footpaths
  • soft and hard landscaping
  • swales
  • paving
  • fencing
  • maintenance (52 weeks)
  • timber decking


Truganina P9 School

Location: Truganina, Melbourne, VIC

Client: KANE

Date: 2018

The Truganina East P-9 School project consists of the construction of new school buildings and the surrounding landscape for Truganina East P-9 School as part of the GASP (Growth Area Schools Project) Government initiative.

Ace Landscape was responsible for all soft landscaping and irrigation including supply and install of associated furniture and fixtures under direction of Kane Construction.

The school is in a residential precinct and is adjacent to residential roads. In the vicinity is a sports complex, residential housing and small primary school. Noise, mud and/or dust and other factors that may affect the surrounding area were some issues monitored by ACE and the client.


Presidents Park Improvements

Location: Wyndham Vale, Melbourne, VIC

Client: Wyndham City Council

Date: July – December 2018

The Presidents Park Landscape Improvements project consisted of the demolition of existing concrete steps / paths, garden beds and lawn areas. The construction and install of new concrete paths, walls, steps, asphalt road, garden beds, irrigation, lawn areas and furniture and structures.

Works were completed inside of the park and close to the Baseball and Hockey Pavilions. At least one access was needed to be maintained to the pavilions at all times throughout construction.


Talaskia Reserve

Location: Upper Ferntree Gully, Melbourne, VIC

Client: Knox City Council

Date: September – December 2018

A social space and multi-court with shelter, picnic tables and furniture, a new drainage system, planting as well as 13 weeks maintenance is included in the scope of works at the Upper Ferntree Gully project.


The scope of work included:

  • Demolition of the existing tennis courts and other associated infrastructure
  • Install of a Plexipave Multi-court with basketball, netball hoop, junior tennis ‘hot shot’ court and running track
  • Social space with shelter, picnic tables and furniture
  • New drainage system
  • Planting
  • Maintenance

Deakin Uni Courtyards

Location: Burwood, VIC

Client: Deakin University

Date: 2018

Ace Landscape Services was engaged by Deakin University to undertake the upgrade of two courtyards on their grounds.



As well as our Landscape team upgrading the courtyard of Building P, our Ace Maintenance team were there for the following 13 weeks, keeping it in tip top shape.



Courtyard M was also maintained by our Ace Maintenance team for the following 13 weeks after completion.

Rosanna Station

Location: Rosanna, Vic

Client: NEPA

Date:  April – October 2018

As part of the construction of the brand new Rosanna Station alongside the Lower Plenty Road Level Crossing Removal Project, Ace Landscape Services team were working through the night on the furniture, platform tactile and concourse paving as well as the street furniture in order to get this project complete, which is now proving to be a huge upgrade for the Rosanna community.


Mernda Rail Extension Project

Location: South Morang, Vic

Client: John Holland Group

Date:  2017 –  August 2018


The extension of the South Morang line to Mernda involved eight kilometres of new rail line and three new stations to cater for up to 8000 commuters a day. Ace Landscape Services were engaged by John Holland Group to do various works for the Middle Gorge Station and Hawkstowe Station.

At Middle Gorge Station, ACE installed 3000+sqm of bluestone paving around the station and into the open space public areas and 400lm of bluestone paving to access stairs around the station.


The Hawkstowe Station consisted of the installation of 600sqm of Bluestone paving and 170lm of Bluestone paving to the stairs and up to the platforms.

WEHI Child Care Centre

Location: Parkville, Vic

Client: KANE Constructions

Date: January 2018 – July 2018

Ace Landscape worked on the WEHI (Walter Eliza Hall Institute) Child Care Centre in Parkville for KANE Constructions. The 5 level centre caters for combined activities including the childcare itself as well as health and consultation services. As well as the play areas, the Ace Landscape team also did the external hardscape and carpark for the centre. A great job by all and what an extremely lucky group of kids who get to play here!



The centre is a first of its kind for a medical research Institute in Australia.

Bunjil Eagle Relocation, Docklands

Location: Docklands, Vic

Client: Lendlease

Date:  April 2018

The eagle sculpture, a Docklands landmark since 2002, was inspired by Bunjil, the eaglehawk that is regarded as the spirit creator of the Kulin nations, which include the Wurundjeri people.

The 25-metre eagle designed by Melbourne sculptor Bruce Armstrong is located in the median strip of Wurundjeri Way. The site is currently under construction and after much discussion the sculpture is to stay in its home, just shifting seven meters to allow for new development.

A HUGE congratulations to our Landscape team (namely Jesse and Brendan) who couldn’t wipe the smile off their faces when the eagle landed. 

Greville Street Improvements

Location: Prahran, VIC

Client: Stonnington City Council

Date: July 2017 – April 2018

Council’s improvement works to Greville Street in Prahran have created a better environment for the local community, businesses and visitors to enjoy.

The featured catenary lighting structure involved over 50 custom made flower lights designed by artist Jan Flook, the catenary design by Tensile Design and Construct and the overall area design by Rush Wright Associates.

This project has won an award for excellence for public works $2m to $5m by the Institute of Public Works Engineering Australasia. Credit to all the team on and off site for doing an amazing job!

As head contractor, ACE’s scope of works included:

  • Reconstruction of roadway through Greville Street
  • Granite sett paving throughout shared traffic zones with bluestone paving to footpaths
  • Catenary lighting and upgraded public Lighting (undertaken by Ace Electrical Infrastructure Pty Ltd)
  • Street trees and garden beds
  • Street furniture installation
