Bicycle Corridor Improvements

As part of Towards Zero, Vic Roads created a new intersection at Albert Street and Lansdowne Street in East Melbourne that will keep cyclists and cars separate, providing a significant improvement in safety for cyclists.

This innovative intersection includes bike lanes and space for cyclists protected by concrete kerbing and small “jellybean” shaped traffic islands. By protecting cyclists with road infrastructure, we can improve safety for cyclists and improve travelling for drivers.

ACE Infrastructure was contracted to construct bicycle kerb separation along Albert Street and Lansdowne Street in East Melbourne. As part of the bicycle corridor upgrade, traffic signal remodelling and upgrade was conducted on Albert Street & Lansdowne Street, Albert Street & Gisborne Street and Lansdowne Street & Victoria Parade intersections.

ACE Infrastructure was involved in the following scope of works:

  • Construct bicycle kerb separation
  • Intersection Asphalt re-sheet
  • Traffic signal works
  • Traffic signal remodelling
  • Albert St & Gisborne St Intersection
  • Albert St & Lansdowne St Intersection
  • Lansdowne St & Victoria Pde Intersection
  • Pedestrian crossing realignment
  • Line marking
  • Green surface treatment
  • Pedestrian ramp crossing at MacArthur Street
