The Gippsland Corridor Station Upgrade Program was introduced to improve customer experience, accessibility, safety and convenience at Traralgon, Moe, Trafalgar and Morwell stations and enable people of all abilities to safely connect with other forms of transport. Ace Infrastructure were awarded this as a design and build contract.
ACE Infrastructure was involved in the following scope of works:
Works involved the upgrade of a gravel parking area to create a 93 spaced sealed car park complete with lighting and CCTV. The station’s accessibility was also improved through the creation of new ramps, handrails and footpaths, as well as modifications to existing toilets and ticket counters in order to achieve DDA compliance throughout. Additionally, enhancements were also made to the existing infrastructure by installing a raised asphalt pedestrian road crossing; erecting a bus shelter; and modifying linemarking.
Upgrades were made to the toilets and ticket counter within the station building to achieve compliance with DDA standards. Car park was modified to improve coach accessibility and also incorporate a kiss and ride area into the station. Improvements and reworks were made to existing footpaths, with tactiles and wayfinders installed throughout.
The existing car park area at Trafalgar was adjusted, resurfaced and linemarked to improve both the layout and the bus interchange at the station. Further to this, works also included the upgrade of footpaths, the installation of a rail track crossing, and the creation of a new Myki reader platform entry point to improve accessibility around the station. New bus and platform shelters were also installed at this station, complete with lighting and surrounding CCTV.
