Hardys Road and Clyde Road Intersection Upgrade

ACE successfully delivered the critical intersection development at Hardys Road, Linsell Boulevard, and Berwick-Cranbourne Road in Clyde North. Serving as the Principal Contractor, ACE managed the complete civil works package, which included extensive earthworks, drainage installations, major roadworks, traffic signalisation, and comprehensive urban landscaping.

The project was situated within a highly sensitive environment, directly adjacent to a residential precinct, a busy shopping centre, a popular shared user path, and Clyde Creek wetlands. This high-profile location demanded strict environmental controls and minimized community disruption.

When unexpected authority delays left existing high-voltage (HV) power poles remaining on-site, ACE demonstrated outstanding project agility. The team proactively collaborated with the council to modify work sequences, isolating the areas around the poles while keeping the wider project moving. ACE re-engineered the stormwater drainage, asphalt layouts, and kerb configurations to ensure full functionality around the standing poles without compromising design integrity or safety.

Project Highlights:

  • Strategic Re-alignment: Closed old sections of Linsell Boulevard and constructed its new alignment to Selandra Rise Estate.
  • Intersection Transformation: Removed the existing roundabout to construct a modern, high-capacity, signalised intersection.
  • Road Infrastructure: Constructed approximately 550 metres of Hardys Road west of the new intersection.
  • Proactive Problem Solving: Re-engineered drainage and asphalt layouts to maintain project momentum despite delayed HV pole removals.
  • Sensitive Environment Delivery: Safely executed civil works adjacent to active residential zones and the Clyde Creek wetland ecosystem.
