ACE successfully completed this $4.0M project for Major Road Projects Victoria, upgrading a critical regional bottleneck in Kalkallo, Victoria. Delivered under the PDA model, the design solution featured a channelised left-turn treatment and a new acceleration lane on the southeast quadrant of the Donnybrook Road and Mitchell Street roundabout to improve safety and access to the Hume Freeway. To minimise community disruption and protect site workers, the ACE project team executed the works within the existing road footprint during an intensive 24-hour, two-week blitz shutdown program. The civil scope included constructing dedicated westbound left-turn and eastbound right-turn lanes onto the inbound freeway ramp, modifying traffic splitter islands, and installing a new concrete apron with a separation kerb. Final works involved island and kerb reconstruction, asphalt profiling, new line marking, and the relocation of impacted services and lighting.
